To Meet God. For What?

April 28, 2007

Meeting with God

An acquaintance of mine once asked me:

- What do you consider to be the meaning of life?

- Development, spiritual growth. The improvement of your qualities. While “erasing” your negative qualities you start hearing the voice of your own Spirit, a part of God within, more and more often. In such a way you become closer and closer to God.

- For what? Why cannot one enjoy what he already has? Read the rest of this entry »

The First Man in the Space

April 27, 2007

Cosmonauts

The first Russian Cosmonauts. Yury Gagarin, the first man to enter the Space, is the second on the right.
At first sight it may seem that the story below and spirituality have nothing in common. But there is one thing which is very important to understand: “it is very important to know your own country, to love your country. If you do not know your country, how can you love it?” (the words by Shri Mataji).  And some spiritually developed people also add that if a person does not love his own country, he cannot respect other countries.

Several weeks ago I paid attention to the book which my husband was reading and understood that, except for the fact that the Russian cosmonaut, Yury Gagarin, was the first man who went spaceward, I knew nothing about the event.

For example, did you know that the space-suit of the first man who went into the space was bright orange? :) Below I am sharing some more information conveyed through the words of Yury Gagarin himself (the translation is made by me). Read the rest of this entry »

How to Slow down the Time?

April 25, 2007

sleep

Many different kinds of attachments are known to people (though the latter do not suspect of them): attachments to money, to material things, to people, to animals, to food, etc. One of the attachments which I had (I am, writing “had” though I suppose closer to winter it will appear again) – an attachment to sleep, to the morning sleep to be more exact (as I am not able sleep in the daytime).

I remember that at school the lessons began at 8:30 am. Guess: when did I get up sometimes? At 8:05 am (considering that it took me 10 minutes to ran to school). And the feeling that I am awakened earlier than I would like to wake up has not left me since kindergarten. So, having graduated from the university I have been enjoying long morning sleep.

But already at the lessons of Foreign Literature we were told about the time-table of George Washington’s days. Read the rest of this entry »

1000 Gold Coins. A True Story

April 24, 2007

God is in everything

A rich man decided to give 1000 gold coins to the poor but he did not know what poor people he should give the money to.

He came to a priest and said, “I want to give 1000 gold coins to the poor but I do not know who to give it to. Take the money and distribute among who you know”.

The priest said, “It’s a big money and I also do not know who to give it to: may be I will give much to one and little to another. Tell me to what poor people and how much I should give you money?”

The rich man said, “If you do not know who to give the money to, God knows: who will come to you first, give him the money”. Read the rest of this entry »

Why not Widen the Outlook?

April 23, 2007

True religion

A doorbell. My husband opens the door. There is a woman and a man standing in front of him. Neat and educated by appearance. In the process of communication it turns out that the man is a Canadian who speaks Russian quite well. Moreover, he is a seeker by nature. It also appeared that they had come to introduce the teaching of the Seventh-Day Adventists to my grandfather. My husband answered that the grandfather lived quite happily and if they wanted to talk to somebody they could talk to him.

The unexpected guests started with the fact that there is God. The truth is incontestable. But then the conversation turned to the topic of salvation. According to their point of view, only those will be saved who follow their, so to speak, religion.

My husband asked, “Do you mean to say that the whole world, except your followers, will be put into a sack and thrown overboard? From the Creator’s point of view, it is quite illogical. There is a part of God in everybody”. Read the rest of this entry »

There Is a Solution, Always!

April 11, 2007

Solution to problems

On Friday, my student and I were reading a story about the experience of a young man who decided to pay a visit to his friend at the Eater weekend. He hitch-hiked all the way from the north of Corsica to the southern capital. The weather was warm enough to wear a T-shirt and sandals.

The fact was that when the young man was coming back (again hitch-hiking), he had forgotten to check the forecast. He was really taken aback when he saw people in the passing cars dressed in jackets and scarves. On his way home (and those were miles) he had to cover some distance in his sandals stepping right into the snow. Finally he was given a lift. Though the car was not the place to defreeze him as there was no windscreen. Don’t worry, the man did not fall ill. In fact, he even did not worry about it. He worried about the fact that he would be late for work the next day. It turned out he was in time and after a good sleep. The idea: there was nothing to worry about, just take the reality for reality.

It was quite logical that after we had read the story I asked my student whether she had ever had a “disastrous weekend”. To my surprise she answered in the affirmative. Read the rest of this entry »

What to Do to Be Happy?

April 9, 2007

What to do to be happy?

Have you ever asked yourself what you are doing here, in life? I have.

You will easily understand the meaning of your life if you answer three questions. Please, be sincere.

1) What moment in life is the most important one?

2) What person is the dearest to you?

3) What is the greatest good on the Earth?

Answering the questions, folk wisdom says that: Read the rest of this entry »

Easter. Its Symbolism.

April 8, 2007

Easter

It is either sunny or snowy behind the window. And sometimes the snow is falling in the bright sunshine.

- Jesus has resurrected!

- Verily he has!

People in orthodox countries tell and write each other. But do many realize what is behind these words? Read the rest of this entry »

What Do We Learn from Children?

April 6, 2007

Children’s Innocence

Many of us were saved by life when we were kids. Life saved us even from such situations which, at first sight, seemed hopeless.

When I was about five, my mother, going to leave on business, took me to her sister for a night. I was put to bed in the living room. But I became frightened of something at night and asked to take me to my aunt’s room. And in the morning my aunt found out that Read the rest of this entry »

Enjoying the Disadvantage – Personal Experience

April 5, 2007

Advantage or Disadvantage?

Several days ago I published the post “Enjoying the Disadvantage”. This time I would like to share with you some personal experience on the topic.

We are leaving our village house on Sunday late in the evening. We are packing quite unhurriedly but I still manage to forget small sausages – our breakfast for the next day. And when we come home, it turns out that we have forgotten a more valuable thing Read the rest of this entry »
